ABOUT

Nick Groves graduated in medicine from the University of Bristol, and following postgraduate training in internal medicine and in anaesthesia, has been Consultant in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care in Cardiff since 1987.

TRAINING + EXPERIENCE

Since then, apart from his clinical work, he has been active in three other areas:- NHS management (as Clinical Director and Associate Medical Director for Surgery in Cardiff between 1994 and 2006); maintenance and development of quality and standards (as a Kings Fund auditor/surveyor since 1993); and in implementation and use of technology.

RESEARCH + DEVELOPMENT

He led the implementation of computerised audit and severity scoring in an intensive care setting in Cardiff in 1989, and has contributed to a number of national NHS IT development groups, including the NHSWIS HIProfile team, and project work with UK Health Informatics National Occupational Standards.
